THE CLIMATE CHANGE CLOCK IS TICKING BY-(NY) Thurs 28th May 09 The Climate Change clock ticks on, most of us don’t give it a second thought, taking it for granted, assuming that tomorrow’s weather will not be carnage and affect how they will manage their daily routine, just another day and another few more dollars. This assumption is severely flawed, like the lung cancer patient still smoking after being diagnosed with the fatal tumor, not willing to cessate or remaining apathetic of the consequences. But is the global warming issue this critical yet, or will it never be, or has it already passed the point of no return and we are so ignorant of meteorological and climate effects that we still don’t know? The weather and climate all interact with air temperatures, humidity, atmospheric pressure, winds, rainfall, atmospheric particle count, sea temperatures, levels of salinity, ice, volcanic eruptions, greenhouse gas concentrations in the troposphere, the layer closest to earth up to eleven miles altitude at the tropopause, the hydrosphere and millions of other variables interacting with each other that combine to give an overall result, an increase in greenhouse gases and heating of the atmosphere leading to global warming. The scientists’ majority consensus of the Intergovernmental Panel of Climate Change agrees the temperatures are increasing between 0.3-0.7C. The complex climate models need to include important factors like solar radiation reaching the earth, the clouds reflectivity, solar dimming, the oceans salinity and acidity, the cooling of the thermohaline convector, the current that flows around the globe, polar currents and ice melting increasing fresh water volumes amongst many other things, but the supercomputers cannot really accurately map out all the variables. The current models are incredible in the number of variables computed, taking months to calculate a decade of future predictions. But how can any one reconcile the data these supercomputers can compute to actual as this is an intangible. That is were the TV film documentary: The Green Bubble- A Global Analysis: New Zealand, Australia, Canada, United States, Great Britain, China, Russia, India, and the United Nations entity being assessed country by country on evidence based data and arguments from protagonists and skeptics on the debate of global warming or cooling extremes. Whaka Productions will investigate the key players in the decision making cycle of global warming who are the politicians, corporate leaders and CEO’s, scientists, religious leaders, celebrities and the public, you and I and those aforementioned. Global Warming is so complex, and yet we add to the jigsaw pieces of fiscal, cultural, corporate, religious and political agendas from across the world. In this first episode we look at New Zealand, 100% Pure is the marketing tourism slogan, so how does the country stand up in the IPCC ratings and evidence based arguments from the Bell Curve extremes of for and against. The ocean currents are poorly understood, it has only been recently that scientists have asked what the main ingredients of climate are. The answer lies not in the turbulent atmosphere but the oceans. Since the superficial three or four meters of the oceans and the whole atmosphere heat energy are comparable, this makes the ocean a major player and predominantly holds the world's water and combined with most of the saturated aqueous gases, that is gas dissolved in water, means the amount of carbon dioxide and methane, two principal greenhouse gases, if suddenly released into the atmosphere and in large concentrations would be devastating to the climate and cause sudden rapid climate change. The ocean currents like the Circumpolar and Humbolt currents surge an upwelling of nutrients to feed the oceans, but coral reefs are dying, like the Coral Triangle around Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands and Timor Leste, plus the Great Barrier Reef and beautiful Seychelles, and to confuse matters more, the polar ice is melting, which one might conclude would help cool the sea temperatures, yet this effect is outweighed by air heating. Whaka Publishing announces new book release, PLUS WE ARE WANTING YOUR OPINION FOR BOTH THE TV DOCUMENTARY AND THE BOOK. The Great Green Debate: Ecology Vs Economics affecting climate change and Global warming.
When was the last time you thought about the environment? We all take it for granted in our comfortable first world lifestyles, but imagine a world with meteor showers not rain, UV rays that scorched your skin, mutating the nuclei within the cells causing cancer with just minutes of exposure. Even now we see more natural disasters on TV and our insurance premiums always go up. Climate scientists, in the majority of peer-reviewed consultation, agree that temperatures are increasing, but definitions vary by semantics, where in the past fifty years, the most dramatic increases have occurred from CO2 emissions, ozone depleting products, i.e. CFC’s and global warming products. Although some scientists are skeptical, as results have only been very accurate in the last decade with satellite and global measurements and claim publication is difficult. The skeptics argue that the sun (solar irradiance), cosmic and water vapor (the largest greenhouse gas), cloud, wind and sea interactions, urban heat islands et al, all contribute to warming and previous measurements have significant statistical errors; so comparisons to general circulation models cannot provide accurate conclusions. Some skeptics like Fred Singer claimed smoking didn’t cause cancer until recently. It depends on whose paying for the research! Our argument, even if it is or is not occurring, we are polluting our planet, killing species we did not even know existed. Are you honest enough to admit this selfish arrogance we demand to maintain our lifestyle in ignorance? Capitalism is what we endeavour to strive for in society, but ethical commerce needs to be higher in the agenda. Benjamin Franklin, in a purest form, stated the pursuit of happiness for America, a fledgling country able to create a fair society at another time of conflict, must have known money would corrupt the actions required to achieve the goal. Therefore economics currently always override ecology, but Fortune 1000 and FTSE 100 CEO’s need to take charge to produce greener product portfolio’s and services for the consumer to choose from, with economies of scale, prices will reduce. In publishing, major houses are slow to react to recycled paper, Random House finally started to print using this, our industry uses 1.5 billion tons of paper per year approximately. Can we reduce this?
None of us are making enough effort, as our tangible risks are low and apathy is easier than action. Whakakaha: make a strong effort. People need to prioritize environmental awareness into their daily routine, and not laugh or scoff at the thought, believing media hype and big brother is yet again trying to scare them. Apathy abound’s because electrical power cuts are rare, communications lines are excellent, and one can talk, e-mail or fax the other side of the world with ease. Like I am doing now, your in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia or Asia, Americas, Europe, Africa or Australasia, and I’m in Central Otago, New Zealand with international offices. Yet, in reality, we all create pollution in some way, we all need to sleep and eat in a safe shelter. Maslov’s criteria for survival, to obtain these, we need to interact with our environment. Like all nature, it is complex and smarter than us. At some point we need a form of media that can educate the general population that recycling and renewable power is good. It always costs a little more, but the quality life benefits, outweighs this! Education through Entertainment. It’s one option to create awareness, but not the Hollywood script that only affects America, or is too unbelievable to relate to.
Environmental and Climate issues don’t sell papers, the meteorological chemo-physics can be overwhelming and boring to non-academics, just a bunch of big words, but make it exciting with a kicking storyline and enthralling plot to tell a story about the climate, then this now sells. This book will do this, by combining science with adventure. It will educate in fictional scenarios of what the weather could produce and its effect on our global civilization. Do you realize how bad it could get? If you are concerned about your environment, then take a stand. Nothing will get done unless a lot of people make a little effort. This new novel highlights the catastrophe that can ensue from corporate greed and a climate pushed out of control. Fictional adventure/thriller, with climate notes and a glossary, plus a global warming sceptics debate at the end. This sounds really good, plus from an ethical standpoint, you, the editor, journalist, or media owner have the power to persuade your target audience. Are you strong enough to take a stance? This is a broad spectrum topic, where it affects every aspect of life, whether it be engineering, health, education, fashion, distribution, manufacturing, retail, wholesale, media, professionals, governments, legislation and most importantly corporates. These are the most important people to get to change their product portfolios, a greener range will reduce costs over time, economies of scale, and they are a primary target for our corporate mission statement, but you can help create awareness too on this important topic. Therefore, if your next story or scoop is about the environment, ecology, global warming or the weather, then you should support this book. Even if it’s not, these issues are so important to our future that you need to think twice before throwing it in the bin. Do you want to be responsible for continued complacency?
This talented new author, ADE PAUL, has an exciting writing style and keeps the reader fixed in the book’s complex, but unravelling plot, as the characters deal with this potentially unthinkable climate reality. Next time you see a tree felled, that’s one less habitat for an animal to live in, or see a river dammed for hydropower, or a road being carved into the landscape, all designed to make our lives easier and better. Except we do affect things, Newton’s Third Law, ‘every action has an equal and opposite reaction’, but we are usually too preoccupied in our own life’s perspective, what we can’t see won’t hurt us? But what happens if the ozone layer is totally destroyed?
If you are not interested in this, then please e-mail me to advise environmental issues are not a priority to you and you care little for the environment of future generations, or not enough to bother even to reply, or getting this message across to the masses is unneccessary. This will be audited for public view on our website. www.whakabooks.com. Who are you, an APATHETIC LIFESTYLER or a GREEN PROTAGONIST? For further comments, e-mail me: adrianpaul@whakapublishing.com AUTHOR ADE PAUL has extensively researched weather, climate and meteorological data to encapsulate a great thriller with a fast paced plot, while explaining weather and climate data, combined with the notes and skeptics debate section, to aid the reader’s understanding.

PRESS RELEASE 16th Feb 2009 New York
Global Warming: Fact, Fiction or Farce? Do we need to Act? The Weather’s Wrath; a fictional epic by Ade Paul, Whaka Publishing. Book Release 1st April 2009. Natural instinct is survival, but when the apathetic lifestyler is accepted as status quo, compared to the green protagonist, nature is threatened and meteorological mayhem ensues. Most people continue in naïve ignorant bliss of what the future holds, comfortable in their lifestyles and the fear of losing this outweighs honest compassion for the weak in humanity;
Did you recycle anything today to help your environment, or did you live the throw-away society lifestyle? It is easiest to just throw everything into the trash can, “good bye rubbish, don’t know where your going in the rubbish truck, but you ain’t coming back here; what I can’t see, can’t hurt me!” Yet this philosophy is untrue, as intangible repercussions exist through pollution and greenhouse gas emissions by either the production or distribution of the product or service one consumes. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction, it just depends on the scale as to the repercussions. Consumerism breeds economics, and this is an absolute necessary for capital markets to thrive and society to exist, the problem is nobody wholly accepts their responsibility to the waste they produce to enjoy their lifestyle, nor do corporations and businesses accept their whole responsibility to the waste and pollution they produce to create profits, as profit is solely the bottom line quest.
Whaka Publishing wants to promote global ecological and warming awareness to CEO’s of the Fortune 1000 and FTSE 100 companies to increase their renewable and green products in the marketplace, by showing the long haul gives more profit, reduces costs by recycling through economies of scale and complying with multi-lateral international commercial protocols put in place by government incentives, through tax breaks, to do this. It is not impossible, but it can only work from the top down. President Obama of the
First World countries have comfortable lifestyles for most of their citizens, where most problems are caused by themselves, or by others who should have been responsible enough to have cared for them when they were children, with errors of judgement or selfishness; but for Third World communities, these people’s predicament are controlled by external forces to their lifestyles, one that is not comfortable. The earth’s rainfall distribution is not equal, neither is the distribution of natural resources globally, and thus wealth. Without this, education, infrastructure and health suffer, droughts increase, fires, snow, floods, tsunamis and hurricanes destroy cities, but the irony is pollution and ecological crisis is low priority in the media. It just doesn’t sell, unless there is the occasional sensationalistic story. It is mostly reported from places far, far away, like a fairytale, but it does not have a happy ending.
Can our media ever get brave enough to correctly report pollution, green global problems and global warming problems without the need to find another sensationalistic story on Brad Pitt, Princess Diana when she was alive, or economic doom? As this is a better seller than explaining pollution, global warming and its ecological effects. The complexity can be broken down simply for the general public, they are the other target group, Education through Entertainment, on how to, why we need to, and when to get started on a more green lifestyle change, a little effort from a lot of people will make a global difference. What we need to understand is that there are many inter-related systems interacting with each other in the atmosphere and the earth reacts to the forcing and feedback mechanisms in place. It is so complex nobody has a magic bullet to answer this, and until then, the media won’t be interested as there is no money in it. Yet the human body is as complex, yet medical science continues to research cures and techniques, and these regularly make press releases acknowledged by the general media in newspapers, radio, television and the web.

PRESS RELEASE 5TH MARCH 2009 New York, USA
New Book Release: The Weather’s Wrath-O3; an intriguing fictional epic that leaves the reader wondering if this could really happen; by Ade Paul, Whaka Publishing. Book Release 22nd April 2009, Earth Day. The weather is something we all talk about, but don’t truly understand, which why the weather forecasters have a difficult job to precisely predict medium and long term trends.
When an important topic like the survival of the planet and our existence come up, then debate will naturally be heated. This is something you don’t want the power brokers to get wrong, yet it is a very complex issue, with multi-factorial extrinsic and intrinsic factors all affecting the outcome, including the solar system, politics, money and scientific analysis. The weather measurements in the past have lacked the precision required to accurately analyse the data and trends when using global computerized climate models due to the variables being so complex. Each variable is open to debate by both sceptics and protagonists. The sceptics argue that data is too inaccurate when using temperature variance and atmospheric gas concentrations.
Some antagonists believe that global warming hype began as a political weapon under the UK Thatcher government, at a time when the coal miners’ strikes and unions were at their strongest and nearly brought down the Conservative Party. Thatcher wanted nuclear power generators and so devised a proposal to the British Academy of Scientists to prove a relationship between global warming and coal powered plants. This is in stark contrast to USA President Obama who advocates greener renewable energy to help recharge the economy by saving money in this recession.
This exciting novel portrays a global civilization sent into economic and civil turmoil, not initially by Wall Street going into freefall, but from the purposeful ozone destruction by Mr. Spratton, TT Enterprises Inc; who wants to hold the countries of the United Nations to ransom to pay for protection from the lethal ultraviolet radiation now bombarding the earth by his stolen adapted deflectors. Without electricity the communication links are severed and clearing bank and international stock market transactions fail, security is breached and systems shut down. When the whole of global commerce ceases, desperation creeps into society as food and products dry up and people change. See what the effects of this are, and could this really happen?
The extreme weather destroys cities by hurricanes, flooding, typhoons, earthquakes and tsunamis. Volcanic eruptions fail to limit the UV radiation killing or mutating DNA in living organisms, it is a slow death, but the lack of governmental action, as they are made helpless, being fragmented by death and destruction, cannot help many. Hospitals are overrun as pandemics spread across the globe.
Whaka Publishing wants to promote global ecological and warming awareness to CEO’s of the Fortune 1000 and FTSE 100 companies to increase their renewable and green products in the marketplace, by showing the long haul gives more profit, reduces costs by recycling through economies of scale and complying with multi-lateral international commercial protocols put in place by UN government incentives, through tax breaks, to do this. It is not impossible, but it can only work from the top down. The leaders of the UN need to unite with a multilateral agreement. The problem is human nature leans towards greed and power than compassion and humanity in the powerful minority.
Can our media ever get brave enough to correctly report pollution, green global problems and global warming problems accurately and routinely, without the need to find another sensationalistic story on Brad Pitt, Princess Diana when she was alive, or economic doom? As this is a better seller than explaining pollution, global warming and its ecological effects. The complexity can be broken down simply for the general public: education through entertainment, on how to, why we need to, and when to get started on a greener lifestyle change, a little effort from a lot of people will make a global difference. What we need to understand is that there are many inter-related systems interacting with each other in the atmosphere and the earth reacts to the forcing and feedback mechanisms in place. It is so complex nobody has a magic bullet to answer this, and until then, the media won’t be interested, as there is no money in it. The human body is as complex, yet medical science continues to research cures and techniques, and these regularly make press releases acknowledged by the general media in newspapers, radio, television and the web. Therefore the media need to answer why not environmental products and ecological breakthroughs? Sceptics will argue we don’t need that many weather or ecological stories on the news, but the weather dominates our daily existence, whether it rain, snow or shine.
